American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring CA licensure and 2 years of L&D experience.
Requirements- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring) experience required
- AWHONN Intermediate certification required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required
- Labor and Delivery unit caring for labor, antepartum, mother/baby, and postpartum patients
- Circulates for C-sections as part of care responsibilities
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- No on‑call requirements
- No holiday or weekend requirements
- No floating to other units required
- Uses Epic charting system
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
- Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction
- Manage labor medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, newborn assessments, and thermoregulation
- Provide postpartum care including fundus, lochia, and perineum assessment
- Support breastfeeding and lactation education for new parents
- Skilled in fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Nurse to patient ratios generally follow AWHONN staffing guidelines
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for local candidate rate
- Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
- Holiday coverage observed for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
- Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
- 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
- First-time travelers are not considered for this position
