• NP Education and Training:
  Candidates must have graduated from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate state accrediting agency. At the time of program completion, the program must have been accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The accrediting institution must be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Candidates must hold current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licenses issued by any U.S. state. Any change in licensure status must be reported to the employer immediately. Temporary licenses are not accepted.
• Candidates must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or the American Safety and Health Institute.
• Candidates must have at least one year of clinical experience obtained after initial licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in any combination of family medicine, emergency medicine, acute care, ambulatory care, and/or public/community health medicine.
• Within the preceding three years, candidates may not have a gap in clinical practice exceeding six months unless the gap is fully explained and approved by leadership.
• Candidates must have experience providing care to pediatric patients and pregnant patients within the preceding five years and be comfortable treating both populations.
• The NP must not have had any healthcare certification or license withheld, suspended, revoked, or denied.
• The NP must not have surrendered, or allowed a license or certificate to expire or lapse as a result of an investigation or disciplinary action.
• The NP must not have been convicted of, or pled guilty to, or pled nolo contendere to, or received probation before judgment for any crime other than a minor traffic violation the record of which has not been expunged.
• The NP shall be in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations relating to prescription of dangerous drugs and controlled substances.
• Shall comply with all state and federal laws governing patient care privacy regulations.
• Is willing to undergo a federal background check which may include information on or interviews with current and former family members, foreign travel, neighbors and past employers.
• Is able to work with electronic systems including a computer to access the EMR, medication applications, trainings, policies, and reporting requirements. Is also knowledgeable about Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Calendar, Microsoft Teams as these are the primary mechanisms to communicate.
• Is willing to use personal cell phone as necessary for time keeping, phone calls and other necessary applications.

• Knowledge of and ability to apply professional NP principles, procedures, and techniques to patient care.
• Alertness and skill in providing care and reacting to emergency situations.
• Interpersonal skills to develop a rapport with patients and co-workers during which instructional information is presented.
• Has experience in working closely with consulting/supervising physicians, peers and others in positions of authority (ex: law enforcement).
• Is able to make independent clinical decisions such as diagnosis, treatment and referrals.
• Has experience working with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Is able to work with persons from diverse backgrounds including non-English speaking people.

• Works under the administrative direction of program management staff.
• Clinical supervision is provided by the Physician Supervisor.

• Work requires walking, standing, bending, and some lifting, for example to assist persons in CBP custody out of wheelchairs.
