Position SummaryThe Licensed Nurse provides direct nursing care and clinical support to residents while helping ensure their health, safety, comfort, and overall well-being. This position is responsible for administering medications and treatments, completing resident assessments and documentation, carrying out physician orders, monitoring changes in resident condition, and coordinating care with residents, families, physicians, and other members of the care team.
The Licensed Nurse also provides leadership and supervision to Care Associates, helping ensure resident care is delivered safely, consistently, and in accordance with individualized service plans, community standards, and applicable regulations.
EssentialJob Duties
- Provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with physician orders, individualized service plans, established nursing practices, and community policies.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely in accordance with physician orders and applicable regulations.
- Complete resident assessments, reassessments, documentation, and other required clinical records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor residents for changes in physical, cognitive, emotional, or behavioral condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate physician, responsible party, and community leadership.
- Obtain specimens and assist with examinations, treatments, and other clinical procedures as appropriate.
- Receive, process, and follow through on physician orders to ensure continuity of resident care.
- Participate in the admission and assessment of new residents and assist with developing individualized plans of care.
- Develop, review, and monitor resident care plans and initiate appropriate interventions when changes in condition occur.
- Respond promptly and professionally to resident calls and requests for assistance.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed while promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life.
- Conduct routine rounds to monitor resident health, safety, and overall well-being.
- Provide appropriate first aid and emergency nursing response within the scope of practice.
- Complete incident reports and required follow-up documentation accurately and promptly.
- Maintain accurate and complete resident records in accordance with community policies and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Nursing regarding resident conditions, staffing concerns, supply needs, and other clinical or operational matters.
- Coordinate resident care with physicians, families, pharmacy providers, outside healthcare professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide daily supervision, direction, and support to assigned Care Associates and other designated team members.
- Delegate resident care responsibilities appropriately and within applicable scope-of-practice requirements.
- Provide coaching, education, and guidance to care team members to support consistent and high-quality resident care.
- Assist with orientation and training related to resident care, emergency procedures, infection prevention, and community policies.
- Ensure resident care and services are provided in accordance with applicable regulations, community standards, resident rights, and established safety procedures.
