Seeking a Grounds Maintenance Laborer that will be responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of landscaped areas, grounds, and outdoor facilities. This position performs routine landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks, operates landscaping equipment, and assists with general labor duties to ensure all assigned areas meet contract requirements and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Mow, edge, trim, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
- Plant, water, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation.
- Remove weeds, debris, leaves, litter, and other materials from assigned areas.
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, weed trimmers, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other hand and power tools.
- Apply mulch, fertilizer, and soil amendments as directed.
- Assist with irrigation system inspections and minor repairs.
- Remove storm debris when required.
- Perform general labor duties, including digging, raking, lifting, loading, unloading, and transporting materials.
- Maintain sidewalks, parking lots, fences, curbs, and other exterior areas.
- Clean and maintain equipment and vehicles.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous grounds maintenance, landscaping, or general labor experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment and hand tools.
- Basic knowledge of lawn care and landscape maintenance practices.
- Valid driver's license preferred (or required if operating company vehicles).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to identify and safely use appropriate tools and equipment.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Ability to safely operate powered equipment.
- Primarily outdoors.
- Exposure to dust, pollen, noise, insects, uneven terrain, and changing weather conditions.
- May require occasional overtime, weekends, or emergency response during severe weather events.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety regulations.
- Immediately report accidents, injuries, hazards, and equipment malfunctions.
- Complete assigned work efficiently and safely.
- Maintain contract quality standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Provide quality customer service while representing the company
