Position: HORSEMANSHIP AND ANIMAL PACKING SPECIALIST
Location: Bridgeport

US Department of Defense -  - Responsibilities:
Develop and support all functions required to conduct a formal military program of instruction in the technical and tactical employment of military pack animals in mountainous environments;
Manage the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center stable facility and care of its animals, primarily horses and mules;
Maintain the barn, fenced irrigated pastures, and corrals, ensuring they are secure, clean, and in good repair;
Implement a rigorous conditioning and acclimatization regimen to prepare animals for high altitude and cold temperatures;
Pack various weapons systems with a precise methodology to ensure secure, balanced, and readily accessible transport;
Assist instructors and guides students through loading the animals and demonstrating proper techniques for lifting and securing cargo;
Conduct pre-mission health assessments, including hoof care and specialized shoeing for icy or rocky terrain, and administer prophylactic treatments;
Implement established animal cool-down protocols, replenish fluids and nutrients, and provide a clean, warm rest environment;
Collaborate with veterinarians and address hoof-related issues from abscesses to injuries
