Location: North Hollywood

Landscaper

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor, the Landscaper has responsibility for minor repairs and regular grounds maintenance for the assigned complex. This position requires the ability to work independently and with flexible hours.

Maintains assigned grounds, driveways, walk ways, and parking lots in good condition

Follows daily maintenance checklist provided by supervisor;
Assures tools and supplies are stocked and appropriately secured in maintenance store rooms; maintains cleanliness and order of store rooms

Checks grounds for any safety concerns; understands and carries out VOALA, federal and other governmental regulations

Cares for lawns by weeding, grubbing, trimming and edging around property

Operates power equipment such as power mowers, blowers, and edgers

Mix and sprays or spreads fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees

Remove tree limbs, overgrowth, and other hazards; gather and remove litter and garden debris

Ensure outdoor furniture, décor, and lighting is maintained and good working order

Other duties as assigned

Ability to work and deal with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs, which may include clients with homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration, and other challenges.

Services for this position must be provided on-site. As a result, the position requires incumbents to report to work on-site each day of active employment.

Maintains the exterior of assigned buildings, walkways, parking lots, and grounds in good condition, including removing hazardous vegetation, debris and litter

Provides lawncare by weeding, grubbing, trimming and edging around property

Mix and sprays or spreads fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees

Keeps tools and stock in good order

Cares for outdoor furnishings and lighting

Conducts regular inspections of assigned buildings and grounds

Drives company vehicle as required for pick up and delivery of supplies

Other duties as required and may be subject to change

As service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.

Requirements:

Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications

Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs which may include clients with homelessness, mental-illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration and other challenges.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping

Preferred Qualifications:

Formal training in a Construction Trade specialty (plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, etc.)

Bilingual (English and Spanish)
