What

you will do

The Area Safety Coordinator ensures the safety and well‑being of employees, visitors, and assets within a designated geographic area.

Role Overview :

This position involves implementing safety programs and policies, conducting safety inspections, providing training, and responding to incidents. Collaborative engagement with site management and corporate safety to ensure safe operations within their assigned area.

Main responsibilities:

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the implementation and adherence to all EDPR safety procedures, protocols, and standards for all site operations.
  • Verify that all new employees, visitors, and contractors receive a safety briefing prior to entering the field. Accountable for ensuring that the contractor safety management system is followed and regularly verify third‑party contractor credentials/safety performance while performing any site work for EDPR NA.
  • Monitor the implementation of Health & Safety behavioral safety programs such as Good Catches, Safe Start, and Stop Work to improve behaviors and promote safety culture. Review submitted good catches and provide QA/QC findings to site management. Coordinate and facilitate daily morning safety briefings for POD, including third‑party contractor activities, if any.
  • Train and develop EDPR site personnel on control of work processes (e.g., JSA, LOTO, Work permits, PPE, etc.) through regular tower climbs, on‑site training, and field inspections. Audit the EDPR LOTO process weekly to ensure compliance with EDPR procedures and provide findings to site management and Corp. Health, Safety and Quality Department.
  • Report any H&S noncompliance/violations and provide recommendations/guidance for site management toward resolving issues and eliminating occupational hazards. Point of contact for all unplanned events and provide support to site manager for incident case management and subsequent root cause analysis in accordance with EDPR procedures.
  • Lead emergency response team and liaise with Health and Safety Department for medical case management guidance. Verify and document the implementation of any corrective actions resulting from incidents or equipment failures.
  • Maintain, inspect, and track all safety equipment inventory on site. Work with lead technicians and field support engineers to ensure completion of preventative maintenance routines (SAP) for all safety equipment and systems.
  • Provide and ensure completion of Health & Safety awareness training for all site personnel, including pertinent third‑party contractors. Liaise with L&D team to ensure employees receive all required training. Review new hires prior training and certifications for transferability to EDPR requirements. Record completed trainings, and schedule TBC Assessments for site personnel in Campus Online.
  • Assist site personnel with training registration, coordination, execution, and recording. Interface with internal and external trainers for scheduling and coordinating both on and off‑site training for site personnel.
  • Verify and audit current training requirements for all EDPR personnel on site in accordance with EDPR safety training procedure quarterly.
