About the roleThe Quality Engineer is responsible for executing and supporting quality assurance and control processes within ZM Trucks’ commercial vehicle manufacturing operations, including Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) assembly.
This role focuses on in-process quality control, structured problem-solving, supplier quality support, and continuous improvement to ensure that vehicles and components meet defined quality standards and regulatory requirements.
In-Process & Product Quality Control- Execute quality control activities across:
Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC), End-of-Line (EOL) inspection and Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) - Ensure compliance with inspection standards, control plans, and work instructions
- Monitor production quality performance and escalates issues in a timely manner
- Verify product conformity against specifications prior to release
- Lead and support structured problem-solving activities using 8D Methodology, 5 Why’s Analysis and Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for internal defects and process deviations
- Implement and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Support implementation of:
Error-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions, Process standardization and optimization and Waste reduction initiatives (lead principles) - Drive improvements in First Pass Yield (FPY) and reduction of rework and scrap
- Develop, update, and maintain Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Inspection standards and checklists
- Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities
- Participate in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) preparation and documentation
- Support incoming material quality control and supplier issue resolution
- Assist with Supplier inspections and process audits, and Supplier corrective action requests (SCAR) and follow-up
- Monitor supplier quality performance, including PPM and defect trends
- Collect, analyze, and report quality data such as Defect Rates, PPM Metrics, and Scrap and Rework Data
- Prepare daily and weekly quality performance reports
- Support KPI tracking and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support internal, external, and certification audits (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, regulatory)
- Ensure compliance with established procedures, standards, and documentation requirements
- Maintain audit readiness and support corrective action closure
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain
- Support real-time resolution of quality issues on the shop floor
- Provide feedback to improve product design and manufacturing processes
- Attention to detail and process discipline

- Hands‑on, shop‑floor oriented approach
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- Three years of experience in automotive or manufacturing quality
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and SPC)
- Six Sigma Green Belt (or in progress) a plus.
- Experience in a production environment (assembly preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
