Job Summary: The Food Safety Technical Specialist is responsible for ensuring facility compliance with BRC requirements, regulatory standards, quality standards, and company policies. Works closely with Production, QA, Suppliers, and Regulatory Agencies to ensure products meet food safety standards and processes auditor documents to maintain audit readiness.

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 with up to 5% bonus potential. Final compensation will depend on skills & experience.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, coordinate and execute successful GFSI and other customer audits.
  • Lead preparations for BRC audits with cross‑functional partnerships and follow‑up.
  • Conduct internal auditing and review of programs and paperwork to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on changes to the BRC program and other audit compliance needs.
  • Manage the Supplier Approval program, keep completed questionnaires, audit suppliers as needed, and work with FSQA Director for final approval/disqualification.
  • Manage the Outside Warehouse Approval program, maintain questionnaires, audit warehouses, and coordinate with FSQA Director for approvals.
  • Assist the Food Safety regulatory person with the Foreign Supplier Program and various Food Safety plans.
  • Receive, sort, file and retrieve training and work order forms.
  • Organize monthly QA and operations KPI review meetings; organize weekly cross‑functional meetings within QA, FS, and Sanitation.
  • Complete customer requests in a timely manner and provide appropriate permissible documents with department management and corporate regulatory.
  • Compile reports and summaries of work; update, check and complete records, forms and documents.
  • Process auditor documents to update and maintain files and records.
  • Process and distribute confidential and sensitive documents.
  • Compose, format and SOP’s, reports and other documents.
  • Coordinate calendars, schedules, meetings, training and travel arrangements.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Assist agencies and the public with information forms and other department resources, explaining procedures.
Qualifications

Thorough understanding and experience with auditing GFSI standards like BRC, Primus, etc. Two‑three years of equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of GFSI standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Certified BRC, HACCP, GMP, internal auditing, auditing suppliers and PCQI.
  • Tracking, trending, interpreting and communicating data.
  • Working knowledge and/or skill in spreadsheets and other computer applications.
  • Familiarity with rules and procedures of the assigned department, including state and federal law.
  • Communicate effectively and timely.
  • Make accurate arithmetic computations.
  • Set up meetings, take notes and make recommendations for next meeting.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree with 3‑5 years previous applicable GFSI experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
