Position Summary

The Senior Associate Scientist, Translational Research (Oncology) focuses on in‑vitro techniques to support translational biomarker work, indications, and assay development. The role involves designing and executing experiments that link clinical observations to preclinical model systems, collaborating across cross‑functional and geographically diverse teams, and contributing to the development of novel therapeutics in oncology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory‑based research supporting translational experiments in preclinical and early‑phase clinical trials.
  • Participate on cross‑site, cross‑functional, and geographically diverse teams.
  • Work with translational scientists on cell‑based, in‑vivo, and clinical trial assays, samples, and data.
  • Assist in selection, validation, and deployment of novel clinical‑stage assays.
  • Execute experiments to test hypotheses derived from clinical observations in preclinical model systems.
  • Review scientific papers/protocols and apply them appropriately to project needs.
  • Help execute collaborative projects with leading academic and commercial research groups worldwide.
Qualifications
  • High motivation, collaboration, and creativity with strong technical skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment and develop experiments supporting translational development of novel therapeutics.
  • Self‑starter and team player capable of collaborating with colleagues in protein homeostasis, oncology, protein engineering/antibody development, chemistry, biomarker, and clinical groups.
  • Proven track record in a relevant scientific area and strong technical skills.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating and applying technologies in genome, transcriptome, and proteome characterization to preclinical and clinical samples.
  • Experience with in‑vitro cellular and biochemical assays (e.g., 2D/3D cell culture, CRISPR, qPCR, Western blot, ELISA, Flow Cytometry, etc.).
  • Familiarity with next‑generation sequencing technologies and data mining proficiency with public and internal databases.
  • Proficiency in software such as Graph Pad, E‑notebook, Microsoft Office, Flow Jo, etc. for data analyses and figure generation.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational and record‑keeping skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced team environment.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of academic and/or industry experience.
  • Or Master’s Degree with 2+ years of academic and/or industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • B.S. with at least 5 years of work experience or M.S. with at least 3 years, preferably in industry and cancer biology.
  • Hands‑on experience with a variety of in‑vitro assays, including cell‑based, co‑culture, transfection, shRNA, CRISPR, CTG, Incu Cyte, xenograft processing, RNA analysis, protein analysis, and fluorescence microscopy.
  • Familiarity with next‑generation sequencing, ChIP‑seq, and advanced assay technologies.
  • Experience with data mining and utilization of software tools such as Graph Pad, Flow Jo, etc.
  • Strong initiative, responsibility, and flexibility with a positive attitude.
Compensation Overview

Brisbane, CA – US: $107,240 – $129,945 (full‑time employee). Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available.
