Associate Scientist

We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join our Pivotal Attribute Sciences Department. The team plays a crucial role in pivotal phase analytical support, focusing on product development support testing of drug substances and drug products. This position is based in Thousand Oaks, CA, and involves working closely with a team of analysts and scientists to develop analytical tools for understanding key quality attributes in various products, including synthetic small molecules, oligonucleotides, peptides, and antibody peptide conjugates.

The goal is to ensure success through pivotal clinical phases to marketing authorization application.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct liquid chromatography analysis using Empower or similar LC platforms, with a preference for experience with large molecule analysis.
  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for synthetic peptide release testing and characterization.
  • Perform mass spectrometry analysis using instruments such as Agilent Q-TOF and Thermo Orbitrap, with an emphasis on large molecules.
  • Collaborate closely with drug substance and drug product process development colleagues to achieve project objectives.
  • Prepare samples and perform routine analyses utilizing liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
  • Participate in the development and optimization of HPLC methods.

Essential Skills

  • Training and expertise in analytical method development, organic chemistry, or formulation development.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret analytical data.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry lab.
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with chromatographic techniques such as liquid chromatography and gas chromatography.
  • Technical aptitude for the identification, development, and implementation of novel analytical technologies, such as mass spectrometry, NMR, and vibrational spectroscopy.
  • Written and oral communication skills for documentation, presentation, and discussion of scientific results in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team-based environment.
  • Abilities in troubleshooting, problem solving, and multi-tasking in support of process chemistry and formulation efforts.
  • Understanding of GLP and GMP requirements and their application in a phase-appropriate manner.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory setting in Thousand Oaks, CA. The work environment is fast-paced and multi-disciplinary, requiring collaboration with a team of analysts and scientists. The position involves utilizing various technologies, including liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry platforms. The candidate should be comfortable working under supervision and meeting the dynamic needs of the department.

This is a Contract position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
