The Night Crew 3rd supports the Night Crew Manager and Night Crew 2nd in supervising, directing, and maintaining proper pricing, stocking, facing, and rotation of merchandise in the Grocery department to convey an attractive store image. The role also assists with ordering store products and scheduling efficiently according to company policy to ensure the best financial interest of the store.
Essential Functions- Delegate and assign tasks to night crew members, ensuring completion per company standards.
- Monitor shelf price integrity and restock to maintain accuracy, proper rotation, and quality protection.
- Enforce case‑cutting procedures to minimize product damage and loss.
- Process damaged and spoiled products according to policy.
- Assist with ordering and inventory control; notify management of invoice errors and shortages.
- Maintain the Wall of Values and key displays; coordinate with the Grocery Manager and Store Director for back‑stock items.
- Take stock of applicable storage and workload areas; assist with forklift and equipment operations.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to management.
- Monitor store conditions and report concerns promptly.
- Support the training and development of night crew team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of inventory systems, grocery product categories, OSHA guidelines, and health and safety regulations.
- Precision in inventory checks and record keeping.
- Proficiency with inventory management software, barcode scanners, and warehouse technologies.
- Effective verbal and written communication with staff and management.
- Organized storage management and efficient inventory control.
- Problem‑solving for inventory discrepancies and storage issues.
- Adaptability to changing situations and workload demands.
- Decision‑making in high‑pressure environments.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8‑hour shifts.
- Lift and carry items up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Perform repetitive motions: reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, handling products.
- Climb ladders for warehouse tasks at elevated heights.
- Use fine motor skills with tools or small objects.
- Operate equipment to move or store products and displays.
- Maintain clear communication and efficient movement to manage workload.
- Work Hours:
Vary; availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically 8‑hour shifts. - Environment:
Indoor, climate‑controlled, adequate lighting and ventilation. - Primary Work Stations:
Grocery store areas (sales floor, backrooms, exterior). - Dress Code:
Professional, presentable attire with company name tag, shirt, hat, jacket, or clean personal shirt (black, burgundy, or blue). - Exposure:
Moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals. - Noise Level: Usually low to moderate; occasional loud periods.
- Interaction:
Constant with customers and team members in a fast‑paced retail environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred:
Over two years of Grocery Clerk experience. - Completion of company’s OSHA‑accredited forklift training.
