As Sales & Catering Manager, you’ll drive revenue through SMERF group business, meetings, and special events while creating memorable experiences for our clients and guests. You’ll own the sales process from prospecting and relationship building through contracting, event planning, and execution, partnering closely with hotel operations to ensure every event delivers on the client’s vision and the hotel’s standards. You will:
- Drive new business and revenue by prospecting for new accounts, nurturing existing relationships, and proactively pursuing group, meeting, and catering opportunities.
- Sell the full hotel experience including guest rooms, event space, banquet and catering food & beverage, AV, and other revenue-generating offerings.
- Build and manage client relationships through sales calls, site inspections, presentations, networking, and responsive follow‑up.
- Develop creative sales strategies based on market trends, competition, and opportunities to increase revenue and market share.
- Manage the event sales process from start to finish, including proposals, contracts, negotiations, client correspondence, and event turnover.
- Detail and coordinate events by creating accurate BEOs and ensuring all client specifications—including menus, timelines, equipment, décor, staffing, and space requirements—are clearly communicated to the appropriate teams.
- Partner with hotel operations to ensure seamless event execution, including menu tastings, pre‑and post‑con meetings, and on‑site client handoffs.
- Lead the client experience on event days by greeting hosts, ensuring expectations are met, and serving as a key point of contact throughout the event.
- Negotiate strategically to maximize hotel revenue while creating solutions that meet the needs of the client.
- Build a strong presence in the local market by participating in industry and civic organizations, networking events, trade shows, and other business development opportunities.
- Partner with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to make informed decisions around pricing, inventory, and rooms and events selling strategies.
- Track and communicate sales performance by maintaining accurate sales system records, completing required reporting, and working toward established sales objectives and quotas.
Success in this role means consistently generating new business, maximizing revenue, and creating events that clients are excited to come back for. You’ll build a strong pipeline of SMERF, group, meeting, and catering business, achieve or exceed individual revenue goals, and develop lasting client relationships. Just as importantly, you’ll become a trusted partner to hotel operations by ensuring every detail is communicated clearly and every event is set up for success from the first conversation through the final guest departure.
