Overview
Humboldt Redwood Company, LLC (HRC) is seeking an experienced Forester, RPF to join our forestry team based in Scotia, CA. This is an exempt position at an annual salary of $102,000. The position includes full benefits:

Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) for the purpose of commercial forest management with a high standard of environmental stewardship. Primary duties include Timber Harvest Plan (THP) preparation, timber marking, road inspections, contract administration, and prescribed fire carried out under a wide range of weather and field conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- THP preparation involving field reconnaissance, mapping, and operational flagging as instructed by RPF
- THP Watercourse classification pursuant the California Forest Practice Rules (CFPRs)
- THP Identification and mapping of unstable areas
- Conduct timber marking and timber cruising
- Conduct road inventories and administer maintenance activities
- Implement prescribed burning projects
- Assist in logging administration, and work in a safe and efficient manner
- Communicate effectively with RPF and Forest Manager
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or University required
- Minimum three years related experience
- This position requires the candidate to possess a Registered Professional Foresters license
- Must maintain and carry a valid driver's license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles including automobiles and trucks in accordance with company policy guidelines
- With appropriate training, an individual must be capable of safely and effectively operating (run, maneuver, navigate and drive in various types of territory) all-terrain vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines
- The employee must have ability to use directional compass and topographical maps
- Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel
- Working knowledge of ESRI ARC GIS suite of products
- Continuously required to walk, sit, and communicate effectively
- Frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, necessary for navigation, data collection, and safety awareness
- Manual dexterity required to operate forestry tools and equipment, including chainsaws, hand tools, and data collection devices
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and rugged or steep terrain
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be loud when operating chainsaws, vehicles, or other mechanical equipment
- This position requires regular travel within a local area (typically within 100 miles) by truck or other field vehicles
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required while in the field, including eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, leather or rubber gloves, sleeve protection, and a hard hat
