Job Title: Intern (Summer Hire)
Location: Acampo, CA 95220 - 100% onsite
Duration: 02 months contract
Shift: 06:00 AM - 03:00 PM - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Qualifications- Education: Close or recent Graduate in Plant Science related fields.
- Skills: Basic Computer skills.
- Interview: 1st interview virtual and 2nd in-person.
As an Intern in the Watermelon Breeding program, you will create chemistry by leveraging your knowledge in the field of agronomy, seed science, plant science, or a related discipline to build your experience in hybrid seed production/research and seed production/quality assurance.
You will work under the direction of the Watermelon breeder and breeding specialist to achieve Watermelon breeding needs.
Your agronomic knowledge of crop production systems will be essential as you conduct data collection, seed harvesting, sowing and planting.
Your effective written and verbal communication skills will serve you well as you participate in weekly meetings.
Applying your mastery of technical skills associated with personal computers such as Excel and Word, you will accurately document and maintain field notes in the internal record system.
Your unwavering commitment to compliance will be evident as you complete stewardship, safety and other trainings required for Watermelon breeding.
Working well as a team player, you will assist as needed with other assignments as directed by Breeder or breeding specialist.
Your formula for success requires being working toward a Bachelor's preferably specializing in Crop Science or related discipline.
Communication and human relations skills are necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Analytical and creative skills are needed to manage and resolve complex duties when necessary.
