Location: Fort Irwin
Duties
* Safeguard Federal property, sensitive materials or processes, military members, family members, civilian employees and visitors.
* Analyzes work requirements and determines staff resources, equipment and other sources needed to accomplish the mission.
* Point of contact for all law enforcement training matters.
* Provides advice and assistance to all levels of management concerning training needs/goals and sources for training support.
* Oversees and executes the police services operations budget and department fleet/logistics program. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
* This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
* This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
* The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
* Subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
* Official Temporary Duty (TDY) may occasionally be required.
* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
* Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
* This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
* This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
* Certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
* Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
* Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation. Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter. Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
* Successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy. These include, but not limited to:
National Incident Management System training requirements.
* Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
