Job SummaryPart time with potential full time in the future. 12 hour shifts.
Responsibilities- Enforce Railroad Safety policies.
- Assist Railroad police in case of a problem.
- Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers.
- Inspect containers and trailers for any seal exceptions or other discrepancies.
- Notify Railroad Police if any loaded container or a trailer is found without a seal.
- Inspect inbound and outbound container trains for missing seals, open container/trailer doors and trespassers.
- Stop and identify all non-employees and all private vehicles driving on the intermodal ramp and right of way.
- Deter theft of the company and employee’s property.
- Inspect high value shipments.
- Patrol perimeter fences to detect damage and inspect all gates to make sure that they are locked.
- Escort and inspect all inbound trains upon arrival.
- Conduct foot patrol of designated lots as directed.
- Request emergency personnel for high risk situations.
Former/Current Military – Armed Security Specialist. Full‑time or part‑time.

Pay Rate$20 - $25 per hour
Qualifications- Military experience preferred.
- Extensive experience in high‑end security and military or law enforcement.
- Valid and current:
- BSIS Guard Card
- PC832 a plus
- BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit
- 40‑hour Security Guard Training
- Power to Arrest and Terrorism Training
- Exposed Weapons Permit (if applicable)
- CPR/First Responder training/certs (preferred)
- Excellent English verbal, comprehension, and written skills – Bilingual is a plus.
- Access to reliable transportation with the ability to arrive to work on time.
- Ability to arrive groomed, clean, dressed and pressed in accordance with uniform standards.
- Basic computer knowledge – operating basic gate functionality, Word, typing reports.
- Crowd Management techniques.
- Individual client needs/sensitivities.
- Emergency egress and evacuation procedures.
- Conflict resolution/de‑escalation techniques.
- VIP protocol and confidentiality.
- Public relations awareness.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
* of the time. - Regularly required to drive, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see (using near vision, far vision, and peripheral vision) to identify and address potential threats or safety concerns.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit while remaining alert to surroundings.
- Frequently required to use hands or reach with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level for various reasons, including detainment.
- May occasionally require lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions, including severe conditions as seasons dictate.
