PositionSummary
Under the general supervision of the Field Service Manager, this position drives a lube truck and performs off‑site lubrication by servicing, completing preventive maintenance work on heavy equipment; performing minor mechanical field repairs; and maintaining records and preventive maintenance schedules for assigned equipment.
Essential Functions- Drives a lube truck to various locations and performs servicing on diesel‑powered vehicles and equipment by fueling, lubricating, changing oil, changing air and oil filters, and checking and adding fluids, including windshield washers, transmissions, cooling systems, brakes, and differentials.
- Performs all requirements found in any Caterpillar Lubrication & Maintenance Guide.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on brake adjustments, leak repairs, removal and installation of radiators and thermostats and replacing hoses, fan belts, alternators, regulators, and batteries.
- Makes any necessary adjustments on engines as well as to the components in the various systems.
- Replaces heavy equipment components including grader blades and cutting edges.
- Provides mechanical preventive maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Makes warranty recommendations and reports in representation of a CAT product.
- Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic set of mechanics hand tools. Some high‑dollar tooling is supplied by Hawthorne.
Education, Experience, And Skills Required- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years’ experience in servicing, preventative maintenance, vehicle and equipment inspection work, including mechanical repairs on automotive or diesel equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to multi‑task and establish priorities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and proper business etiquette; customer service aptitude.
- Ability to work in a team environment and possess a positive attitude.
- Valid Class “B” California State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Furnish all hand tools required to repair, test and diagnose hydraulic, air, power‑train, electrical and electronic systems on Caterpillar equipment.
