Job SummaryUnder the oversight of a Supervisor or Foreman, a Water System Maintenance Worker II assists in performing essential maintenance and repairs of water facility infrastructure.
Essential Functions- Excavate and expose service/main leaks, isolate damage, and assist in repairing or replacing assets.
- Notify customers as required.
- Assist in repairs and maintenance activities of meters, meter boxes, service lines, mains, wells, pump stations, and fences.
- Flush and maintain mains; operate hand and power tools.
- Set, replace, or remove 1½″ to 2″ meters.
- Conduct all water discharges in accordance with Company’s NPDES policy, including BMPs, monitoring, data recording, and paperwork.
- Prepare and operate service truck(s); load materials and equipment; remove and dispose of debris; clean equipment and truck as needed.
- Change, repair, and clean meter boxes/lids, valve covers.
- Clean, paint, repair, and maintain Company‑owned or operated facilities.
- Perform other functions as outlined in the CBA section 8 W2 (Water Distribution Operator Certification).
- Perform work on‑site at assigned location.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s license.
- Insurable under the Company’s policy.
- Effective communication with supervisors, co‑workers, and the public.
- Basic mathematics skills for calculating figures.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Working knowledge of basic word processing and email programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work under supervision and respond to direction, feedback, evaluation, coaching, counseling, and/or discipline.
- California State Water Distribution Operator II certification required.
- California State Water Distribution Treatment II certification required.
- Step 1 – $33.85
- Step 2 – $35.05 (6 months)
- Step 3 – $36.12 (12 months)
- Step 4 – $37.45 (18 months)
