Job Overview
Operates, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs steam boilers, and hot water generators, distribution systems, components, and accessories. Operates and maintains Liquid Petroleum Gas Vaporizers, tanks, and associated piping within the plants. Reads meters and gauges and adjusts controls to maintain proper operating conditions. Records data such as temperatures, pressures, hours of operation and analysis of flue gases. Performs lubrication of motors, fan, and accessories.
Repairs and rebuilds boilers and associated equipment using portable power and hand tools when necessary. Calibrates boiler plant instrumentation and system controls using electronic, mechanical, chemical, and electrical test equipment. Tests and treats boiler feed water with specified chemicals. Monitors the operation of Liquid Petroleum Gas Vaporizers, pressure regulators, piping and tanks within the LPG plant.
- Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, steam and hot water generators and distribution systems.
- Perform corrective repairs on boilers, steam and hot water generators and distribution systems.
- Perform preventative/corrective maintenance on the Liquid Petroleum Gas Plant.
- Use equipment manuals and follow and understand manufacturers' specifications including M.S.D.S.
- Accurately track time, work orders, and parts using electronic devices.
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have three (3) verifiable years' experience as a High-Pressure Steam Boiler Operator.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
- Must possess a County of Los Angeles 500hp Steam Operator's License or be able to obtain within four (4) months.
- Must demonstrate capability to perform maintenance and repairs to steam boilers, hot water generators, hot water heating systems and associated controls.
- Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Use technical manuals, technical bulletins or manufacturer's specifications while performing maintenance, troubleshooting or corrective repairs to steam boilers, hot water generators, and associated controls.
- Accurately read measuring devices, testing equipment or instruments.
- Use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions.
