Operator (Operator‑In‑Training) – Water and Wastewater Services

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a small group of hard‑working individuals in the Sierra Nevada mountains to provide water and sewer services to residents, businesses, and ski resorts near Donner Summit. The role is designed for an entry‑level candidate seeking exposure to all aspects of domestic water treatment and distribution, and wastewater collection and treatment. It is ideal for someone looking to obtain an Operator‑In‑Training (OIT) certificate and launch a career in water and wastewater treatment and operations.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Must obtain a wastewater operator‑in‑training certificate within three months of hire.
• Little or no directly related work experience is expected; training is provided.

Provide water and sewer services to the community, including

• Operating and maintaining water treatment and distribution equipment.
• Monitoring wastewater collection lines and treatment processes.
• Assisting in the operation of the water and wastewater treatment plant.
• Collecting and analyzing water quality data.
• Supporting system maintenance and repair under supervision.

• Wage Range: $30.00–$35.00 per hour.
• Medical: District pays the medical premium for employees and their families.
• Retirement: District funds a money‑purchase pension plan and offers a voluntary deferred compensation plan.
