Job Description

Terra-Gen is one of the largest integrated and independent renewable energy power producers in the United States. We are an end-to-end project development, financing and operating company producing quality, utility-scale renewable power across a diverse set of technologies. Our mission is to provide affordable, clean energy, at a large scale, to help the nation achieve its goals of energy security, grid resiliency and having a meaningful impact on climate change.

Terra-Gen is seeking a skilled Mid-Level BESS HVAC Technician to support the critical cooling infrastructure of our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to standards above the industry’s best practices. Unlike standard comfort cooling, this role focuses on high-precision thermal management systems (liquid cooling or forced air) that keep large-scale battery plants within strict operating temperatures. This role focuses on maintaining high-precision thermal management systems, including liquid cooling and forced air systems, to ensure reliability and optimal performance of our utility-scale battery storage assets.

The Tech II will be responsible for ensuring maximum up-time for renewable energy storage by maintaining the  life support  systems of our battery enclosures. They will perform both scheduled and unscheduled fieldwork, including but not limited to installation, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning support, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance of mechanical, refrigeration, and controls systems. While this role does not require the advanced diagnostic authority of a Lead Technician, the Mid-Level Technician must demonstrate solid technical competency, problem-solving skills, and adherence to operational standards.

Ideal candidates will be a self-starter and work under the supervision of the Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor and may provide guidance to entry-level staff. This role is hands‑on, requires attention to detail, and includes maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. They may also be assigned the responsibility for observing the quality and safety practices of contractors performing HVAC corrective maintenance, retrofits and commissioning type work.

This full‑time position is based near Mojave, CA, and may include rotating schedules, overtime, nights, weekends, holidays and participation in an on‑call rotation. Some travel will be required for this position. The role offers growth opportunities within Terra-Gen.
