- Job Title - General Farm Laborer and Equipment Operator
- Location
- Durham, CA - Shift
- At least 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary seasonally and may increase or decrease based on operational needs, weather conditions, responsibilities and agricultural schedules. - Compensation - $19.00 - $21.00 per hour (depending on experience)
The equipment operator and general farm labor positions are responsible for carrying out essential farming processes which include but are not limited tofield preparation, crop harvesting, fertilizing and spraying rice and orchard crops with various equipment, tools and mechanical devices.
This position must be knowledgeable and able to drive and control farm machinery and equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate and harvest crops. Manual labor for pruning, weeding and orchard irrigation repairs, etc.
This position will also require mechanical abilities to maintain and repair tractors, implements and other equipment.
- Physical labor includes pruning, weeding, digging in the dirt with tools, and physically repairing irrigation lines/boxes.
- Operation of farm machinery
- Long hours during planting and harvesting
- Assist with tillage during spring work and after harvest
- Perform equipment cleaning, maintenance and repairs
- Keep accurate logs of all maintenance and repairs completed
- Assist with other general labor tasks as needed
- Operate tractors and backhoes when necessary to complete tasks
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- Must possess a valid, current driver's license
- Self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong teamwork skills
- Must be organized and know how to maintain equipment.
- Need to have excellent manual dexterity and should be able to work with small, detailed objects.
- Regular standing and climbing up and down steps and ladders.
- Frequent reaching with hands and arms.
- Climbing and balancing.
- Stooping, crawling, and kneeling in tight spaces.
- Regularly lifting and moving a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions including wet, humid, and hot temperatures.
- Working near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places.
- Exposure to airborne particles.
- Working with frequent vibration.
