Field Service Technician - Energy Equipment

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Field Service Technician to maintain and repair vital energy equipment in and around Welkom , Free State. In this crucial role, you will be the frontline for ensuring the operational integrity of our energy infrastructure, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues efficiently. You will work independently and as part of a mobile team, travelling to various sites to perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.

This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined individual with a strong understanding of electrical systems and a commitment to safety and reliability in the demanding energy sector.

• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on a variety of energy generation and distribution equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical failures, ensuring minimal downtime for critical assets.
• Install, test, and commission new equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
• Maintain accurate service records, including detailed reports of work performed, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures while working on-site, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Provide basic training and technical support to site personnel as needed.

• Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related trade (e.g., N3 or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably in the energy or industrial equipment sector .
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults (e.g., pumps, motors, gearboxes) and electrical issues (e.g., wiring, control panels).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving skills, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in diverse site conditions.
