About the Role
Our client requires a skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join their expanding team in Welkom. This role is essential for the deployment and maintenance of high-speed fiber optic networks, ensuring reliable connectivity for our clients' diverse customer base. You will be responsible for the precise fusion splicing of optical fibers, field testing, and troubleshooting to guarantee network integrity and performance. The ideal candidate is meticulous, safety-conscious, and possesses a strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, contributing to the delivery of advanced communication infrastructure in the Free State region and beyond, fostering a culture of quality and precision.
Key Responsibilities- Perform fusion splicing of single-mode and multi-mode optical fibers with high accuracy.
- Conduct field testing of fiber optic cables using OTDR and power meters to verify splice quality and network performance.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic networks, including underground and aerial deployments.
- Read and interpret fiber optic network designs, splice diagrams, and technical blueprints.
- Maintain and manage all splicing equipment and related tools, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company procedures while working in various environments.
- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer with a strong track record.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining fusion splicing machines and OTDR testing equipment.
- Understanding of fiber optic cable structures, components, and testing methods.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the assigned Welkom area.
