DescriptionDo you want to make a positive difference in the lives of youth? If yes, join us at Koinonia Family Services in our post‑adoption wraparound program serving the Western Placer County area. We are looking for two part‑time Family Specialists to serve families who have adopted children/youth from the foster care system and are experiencing challenges related to behavioral or mental health.
The Family Specialist works directly with youth and families to model positive behavior and implement targeted behavioral interventions to enhance stability, safety and well‑being. This includes working directly in the family’s home and community to provide support and interventions.
The Family Specialist opportunity includes:
- A great chance to support youth who have experienced trauma
- Starting hourly pay rate: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, or higher with prior wraparound experience
- Benefits include paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, and participation in our 401k plan
- Enhance your knowledge and skills by working alongside a committed team of professionals to learn cutting‑edge, evidence‑based treatment modalities
- Work with a great team of people who care about each other and our mission to help youth and families find hope and healing
This is a part‑time position. The schedule is about 20‑25 hours per week.
Under the supportive guidance of the Wraparound Program Supervisor, you will work with the Wraparound Facilitator and the Wraparound Parent Partner to provide direct services to youth and families. This includes:
- Work directly with youth and families in their home and community to develop positive relationships and implement the plan of care
- Model positive behavior and implement targeted behavioral interventions to promote stabilization in the home and community
- Provide skill‑building interventions for the youth and family to improve their behavioral outcomes
- Participate in a family‑centered, strength‑based, culturally sensitive planning process for creating individualized plans of care
- Support youth to participate effectively in child and family team (CFT) meetings
- Implement strengths‑based behavior plans with individualized strategies that include supportive linkage to the community and school
- Maintain case files for assigned youth and families
- Transport youth to appointments and community resources
We are seeking candidates with an associate’s degree in a behavioral science‑related field (or substantial coursework completed toward an AA degree) and one year of experience working with high‑risk youth (preferred). Candidates with “lived experience” with foster care and adoption will also be considered.
Qualified candidates must complete a criminal background clearance through the California Department of Justice and FBI, and a pre‑employment physical and TB test. This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation as driving is an essential job function. Family Specialists are responsible for visiting client homes, transporting youth, engaging with community partners, often in locations not easily accessible by alternative transportation methods.
QualificationsRequired High School or better.
