• Associate's degree equivalent to four (4) years of experience
• Bachelor's degree equivalent to eight (8) years of experience

Under the supervision and direction of the Xaa‑wan‑’k’wvt Head Start Manager, the Cook supports the Tolowa Dee‑ni' Nation’s (TDN) Mission Statement, ensures compliance with the Office of Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), and manages the provision of nutrition services, such as the physical health component, including the day‑to‑day operations of the center garden and composting. The Cook ensures nutrition services are culturally and developmentally appropriate to meet each child's daily nutritional needs and feeding requirements, including children with special dietary needs and children with disabilities.

Meals are served Family style per 1302.31(e)(2). The Cook completes and submits USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Office of Head Start, and Child Care and Development Funds (CCDF) program documentation and reports to ensure guideline and requirement compliance.

All Tolowa Dee‑ni' Nation employees must submit to a background check and abide by all Tribal, federal, and state laws. All employees must comply with Tolowa Dee‑ni' Nation drug‑free workplace policy and will be subject to pre‑employment, random, for‑cause, and post‑accident drug and alcohol testing. Current physical exam/tuberculosis test clearance, Hepatitis B series I, II, III complete. Qualified American Indian Preference applies.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 2 years' experience in nutritional diverse kitchen.
• 1 year working with children 8 and under
• CPR and First Aid within 60 days.
• Mandated Reporter certification within 60 days.
• Valid state issued driver's license and/or the ability to obtain a California or Oregon driver's license. Must be insurable on the Nation’s insurance policy.
