The

Position

The Interim Housing Supervisor (IHS) is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations in coordination with, and as assigned by, the Interim Housing Manager. This position will train Participant Coordinators (PC) through role modeling and manage the day to day needs of the site on swing and graveyard shifts, primarily. In all aspects of their work, the IHS will use trauma informed care, harm reduction and housing first principles.

The supervisor will assist the Interim Housing Manager in overseeing HMIS data entry, documentation, incident response and PC shift duty completion.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as shift supervisor, overseeing daily operations during assigned shifts, ensuring program tasks are completed, and maintaining appropriate staff coverage
  • Provides training, onboarding and support to staff, including crisis intervention strategies, trauma-informed care, housing first/housing focused care, mandated reporting, etc.
  • Reviews and responds to complaints, Daily Activity Reports, and Incident Reports and develops Choice Agreements to resolve crisis to support participants to be successful in meeting IH standards and to ensure the safety of the IH community
  • Provides crisis intervention, risk assessments, safety planning, and other crisis support to participants
  • Coordinates with the Facilities and Maintenance Operations (FMO) Department to facilitate FMO requests and follow up
  • Coordinates directly with the Interim Housing Manager to collaborate on participant care and staff expectations to reduce crisis on site
  • Monitors staff completion of HMIS clarity/CHAMP case notes, services entries, and program exits and ensures document upload is completed as prescribed in program contracts
  • Provide shift coverage when staffing shortages arise
  • Assist in preparing for monthly site program meetings and attends agency and community meetings as directed by supervisor
  • Coordinates with internal agency departments and community partners to ensure program needs as met

Team Coordination and Operations

  • Provides staff with reminders and clarification on time and attendance expectations
  • Communicates organizational goals, safety practices, and key deadlines to the team
  • Encourages adherence to company policies, operational standards, and performance expectations
  • Supports a positive work environment by offering ongoing guidance and constructive feedback
  • Oversees shift operations to ensure consistent and efficient daily workflow
  • Ensures departmental goals and outcome measures are clearly communicated and understood
  • Maintains company presentation standards by ensuring brand materials and physical spaces meet required guidelines

  • Additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
What You're Skilled At
  • Knowledge of community-based organizations and resources for families and individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Knowledge of homelessness and related issues (i.e. poverty, housing, CES)
  • Understanding of crisis intervention and risk and safety assessments, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Housing First
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills required
  • Moderate understanding of mental health symptoms and behaviors, substance use disorders and trauma
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to perform extensive charting, electronic data entry, and documentation
  • Practical knowledge of HMIS preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Advocacy skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Bilingual:
    Spanish/English preferred, but not required
Other
  • Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPAA standards
  • Obtain and maintains CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Ability to pass post-offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances
  • Ability to travel to required off-site meetings when necessary
  • Ability to work nights/weekends
Experience
  • Associates degree in a social service-related field or an equivalent amount of experience in social services
  • Experience in an interim housing environment preferred
  • Management experience preferred
