PAY RATE: Starting Wage $19.00 - DOE HOURS: Full-Time Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; hours may vary REPORT TO: Child and Family Services Director

  • Conduct case studies, risk and safety assessments; psychosocial assessments and strengths and needs assessments to determine social service needs of clients.
  • Develop case plans and provide case management; develop professional working relationship with families; and advocate for RVIT children/elders and vulnerable adults in accordance with RVIT code/policies, programs, funding and traditions under supervision.
  • Implement culturally relevant prevention and intervention services that reduce risk and increase protective factors for an identified program and target population.
  • Make verbal and written recommendations to the court on foster care placements, guardian ships, termination of parental rights and various issues involving the Indian Child Welfare Act, tribal laws and other related laws/programs based on assigned case load, may be required to testify in court to present recommendations of the Social Services Team.
  • Conduct investigations and assessments of allegations of abuse and/or neglect of children, elders and vulnerable adults.
  • Facilitation of parent/child/relative visitation.
  • Transition and independent living planning with youth 14 years and older.
  • Educational advocacy for school aged children and youth.
  • Conduct concurrent planning for all children in foster care.
  • Provide crisis prevention for families, youth, elders and vulnerable adults.
  • Facilitate family team meetings and contacting all involved agencies.
  • Maintain ongoing staffing with the Personnel Director, MDT and program team on case load data, court recommendations, placements and other issues regarding the case load and other related programs.
  • Assist in the facilitation of community engagement sessions, groups and team meetings, and workshops.
  • Interpret the policies, rules, and regulations to applicants and target population.
  • Prepare and maintain case records and court reports.
  • Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Socio-economic conditions and trends.
  • The principal of individual and group behavior.
  • Current issues in the field of social welfare.
  • Principles of interviewing and problem-solving methodology.
  • The general principles of public assistance policies and programs.
  • Principles and techniques of interviewing and recording of social case work.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office or similar programs.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local tribal communities including cultural values and beliefs, history, family systems and community.
  • Local, State and Federal standards, legislation, and requirements associated with social work and Tribal communities especially ICWA.
  • Community resources providing social services and protection for Tribal families.
  • Socio-economic, cultural patterns, and associated backgrounds to Tribal customs.
  • Ability to work with individuals and families in crisis.
  • Safety issues pertaining to home visits; potential for/and acknowledgement of dangerous situation.
  • Awareness of symptoms/problems related to alcoholism and drugs, and how to advise families on assistance/intervention.
  • Interpersonal skills, using discretion, patience and courtesy.
  • Effective and appropriate Public Relation techniques.
  • Effective and appropriate oral and written communication skills.
  • Coordinate resources and communication to meet identified Tribal Social needs, assuring effective and sufficient services.
  • Conduct extensive genealogical research for the determination of Tribal community.
  • Understand, communicate with, and establish rapport with Tribal community.
  • Establish and maintain contact with community resources, which provide social services and assistance.
  • Prepare required reports and maintain records and files per the Departmental guidelines.
  • Assure proper and timely resolution of issues and problems.
  • Interpret, apply, and explain related policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or AA Degree or Certificate in Sociology or related field OR three (3) year work experience with a social service agency in child custody cases and/or Indian Child Welfare Program Services.
