The Steamboat Springs School District (SSSD) is seeking qualified Long Term Substitute 11/15/2026-05/28/2026
School Social Worker/School Health Professional for the 2026-27school year.

SALARY INFORMATION:

Placement is based on a maximum of 10years of experience, verified full time teaching (not substitute) experience and education. $55,000.00- $83,751.00(PhD)

This is a temporary position, non renewed at the end of 2026/27 school year. Position supports Soda Creek Elementary and Steamboat Springs Middle School.

Candidates must have a Colorado substitute teaching certificate or Colorado teaching license.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participates in each school's student concern teams to support determination of appropriate behavioral health interventions for students.
  • Supports school personnel understanding of student-family-school-community relations which affect a student's school performance.
  • Serves as a school district representative on community-wide teams and coalitions related to youth behavioral health.
  • Serves as a resource to special education staff including attending student staffings when appropriate.
  • Participates on MTSS, Threat Assessment and Crisis Teams
2. Education
  • Coordinates school personnel training in substance abuse, Restorative Practices, suicide prevention and behavioral health topics.
  • Develops and presents and/or coordinates appropriate parent education workshops within schools related to behavioral health and substance abuse prevention.
  • Collaborates with school personnel to develop additions to the curriculum in the areas of substance abuse prevention and behavioral/mental health including school wide substance abuse prevention campaigns, restorative practice implementation and family systems work.
3. Direct Student and Family services.
  • Provides and/or coordinates clinically appropriate behavioral health interventions to individual students, groups of students, and families regarding behavioral health concerns.
  • Advocates for students with parents, teachers, school administrators, and other agencies
  • Serves as a resource regarding academic, social and emotional needs of the children including crisis intervention.
  • Serve as a liaison between families and the school for students with identified behavioral health interventions
  • Participates in student mental health screenings, substance abuse screenings, and threat assessments
  • Provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 service as referred through the district referral system.
4. Case Management of Interagency Involvement
  • Refers students and families to appropriate community service providing agencies and supports families in securing these services.
  • Coordinates multi-agency services provided to students and their families, particularly as the needs and services impact the educational adjustment of students
