Coach Lacrosse Middle School (part-time) – Oaks Christian School, Westlake Village, CA

Job Description

This role involves coaching middle school lacrosse teams on a part‑time basis in accordance with school policies and Catholic educational values.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, training, and strategies necessary for competitive success.
  • Maintain knowledge of game rules and league regulations and implement them consistently.
  • Organize and conduct practice sessions for the sport.
  • Be present at all games and/or practices unless ill, injured, or excused by the Athletic Director or Principal; when excused, arrange for another approved individual to coach.
  • Act under the supervision of the Athletic Director; if unable to handle a situation, request Athletic Director support.
Personal Behavior
  • Provide spiritual leadership of the team, incorporating devotions, prayer, and Christian values into the program.
  • Encourage positive values, acceptable behavior, and self‑discipline with a Christian emphasis.
  • Demonstrate responsible professional Christian conduct within and outside the competitive arena.
School Relationships
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director and Academic Dean to determine academic and citizenship eligibility of team members.
  • Ensure players complete missed classroom work due to games and submit it on time.
  • Assist teachers whenever possible to support student/athlete success.
  • Submit team roster to the athletic office the day after team selection.
  • Submit an event schedule to the athletic office 45 days prior to the first contest or as soon as the league schedule is printed.
  • Work with the Athletic Director to handle disciplinary situations; if unresolved, notify the Athletic Director.
  • Complete and submit injury report forms to the athletic office; guide parents to their insurance carriers first and provide school insurance as secondary.
  • Plan and submit post‑season awards night to the athletic office; obtain approval from the Athletic Director and Administration Council.
Facility/Fiscal/Equipment
  • Maintain responsibility for facility and equipment used during practice sessions and games.
  • Ensure care and upkeep of the facility.
  • Keep a strict inventory of uniforms and equipment; submit inventory copy to the athletic office at season end.
  • Collect and return fees or costs for lost, stolen, or damaged uniforms and equipment as directed by the Athletic Director.
Transportation
  • Ensure all driving forms are valid when students and parents are drivers; no exceptions.
  • Always have medical release forms with drivers and keep complete sets available for transportation.
Community/Parent Relationships
  • Establish and maintain a team representative/parent promptly; notify athletic office with the representative’s name.
  • Maintain good public relations with faculty, staff, parents, and officials.
  • Promote the school’s sports program to parents, players, staff, and fans at all times.
Other Responsibilities
  • Monitor locker rooms before and after practices and events.
  • Secure all doors and windows before leaving the facility when applicable.
  • Develop a respect for the Lord, school property, and a positive attitude toward teammates, opponents, officials, and fans.
  • Assist the athletic department as required.
Recommendations
  • Maintain a copy of roster with home and school phone numbers.
  • Know athlete schedules.
  • Plan and hold a pre‑season parent meeting.
  • Consult the Athletic Director and Administrative Assistant for support and advice as needed.
Athletic Trainer Collaboration
  • Work directly with the Athletic Trainer.
  • Notify the Athletic Trainer about injuries.
  • Handle supervision and discipline regarding inappropriate behavior in the training facility.
  • Communicate practice and game schedules to the trainer.
  • Follow training room guidelines.
  • Inform the trainer of any special training aids required by the team.
