- Comply with food service manager’s instructions on production, preparation, and service of food.
- Account for meals (reimbursement and a la carte sales) per department standards.
- Clean up kitchen, serving area, cafeteria and dishroom following manager’s instructions.
- Maintain food safety standards during handling, preparation, storage, and service.
- Operate computerized point‑of‑sale equipment to process students during breakfast and lunch lines.
- Work efficiently and cooperate with other employees.
- Attend job‑related training classes and workshops.
- Interact with students positively and professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds, stand on a hard surface for 3‑6 hours, and perform bending, twisting, repetitive motions.
- Experience in institutional food service operations and/or school food service is helpful.
- Completion of Serve Safe course and passing the exam with ≥70% accuracy within 1 year of hire date.
- Knowledge of point‑of‑sale experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete job duties within the contracted hours.
- Proficiency in managing time efficiently.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse school community.
Hourly rate: $20.23 – $22.74 (based on 2025‑26 contract).
