Position Summary

The Yard Supervisor at The Dune Company of Salinas is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the facility's yard, warehouse, and with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and inventory accuracy. This involves managing, training, and supporting warehouse personnel and drivers.

This role ensures that all machinery and tools are maintained, organized, and ready for field operations, ensuring the efficient delivery of custom application services to clients. The Yard Manager is also responsible for coordinating with the operations, logistics, and sales teams to meet the company’s service and scheduling needs while maintaining safety and compliance standards.

Role Responsibilities Yard Operations Management
  • Oversee the daily operations of the yard, ensuring that all equipment, vehicles, and supplies are organized, well-maintained, and ready for deployment.
  • Maintain an efficient layout of the yard, ensuring that equipment and supplies are easily accessible and stored in an orderly manner.
  • Supervise and train yard personnel, ensuring that all tasks are performed safely and efficiently
  • Operations & Logistics:

    Oversee the daily operations of the yard and manage the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring a smooth flow of products in and out of the facility.
  • Inventory Control:

    Perform daily and monthly inventory counts, maintaining accurate records to ensure no product enters or leaves without proper documentation.
  • Manage the inventory of parts, supplies, and chemicals used in custom application services, ensuring adequate stock levels to meet operational needs
  • Supervision & Training:

    Provide leadership to warehouse staff and drivers, including training them on transportation rules and safety regulations.
  • Create work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure that all work is completed on time and according to company standards.
  • Safety Compliance:

    Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols for all equipment and personnel, including conducting safety inspections of forklifts, loaders, tenders, and pull behind trailers such as Ball tanks and wheel tanks.
  • Maintenance & Maintenance Oversight:

    Oversee the maintenance of Tenders, Ball tanks, and wheel tanks
  • Documentation & Reporting:

    Complete hazardous material shipping papers, Purchase orders and other documents associated with any materials entering or exiting the facility.
  • Coordination with Field Operations:
  • Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to ensure that equipment is available and prepared for daily custom application services.
  • Communicate with the sales and customer service teams to meet client needs, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of services.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience / Skills / Abilities
  • Experience:

    Previous experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or a supervisory role is generally required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in yard management, equipment maintenance, or a related role within the agricultural or custom application industry.
  • Experience working with agricultural equipment, vehicles, and custom application machinery is highly desirable.
  • Licensing:

    A valid commercial Class B driver’s license with a good driving record is often necessary. Class A license preferred
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Windows applications.
Job Expectations / Working Conditions
  • Physical Ability:

    Ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks.
  • Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
  • The role often involves working outdoors and in a warehouse setting, requiring familiarity with agricultural products and safety standards. The position requires a commitment to safety and a "people-first" work environment.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends during peak seasons or periods of high demand.
