1st Shift Shipping Coordinator - Marysville, CA
American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home‑heating markets. AWF employs over 450 people across 11 locations and generates more than $100M in annual revenue.
We are seeking a candidate for the 1st Shift Shipping Coordinator role in the Marysville, CA plant.
Overall Objective:Oversee and coordinate daily shipping and logistics operations, ensuring all customer and supplier requirements are met efficiently and accurately.
Job Responsibilities- Customer Service:
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Transportation, and Operations teams to exceed customer expectations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and foster positive relationships with customers, suppliers, employees, and carriers.
- Communicate updates to internal sales leadership and customers promptly to minimize potential costs or disruptions.
- Coordinate shipment logistics with customers, production, and shipping teams for smooth operations.
- Logistics:
- Monitor and resolve delivery exceptions daily.
- Perform accurate order entry and process shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading.
- Follow data capture requirements (e.g., CRM systems) to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure availability of shipping materials and verify all paperwork for compliance.
- Support and train shipping personnel, including truck loaders.
- Provide backup support for loading trucks and trailers.
- Use Real Time Freight (RTF) to post loads, pickups, and deliveries.
- Process re‑consignment and diversion requests.
- Generate freight quotes and analyze key freight lane performance for cost‑saving opportunities.
- Safety:
- Follow all safety rules and participate in safety training.
- Use PPE as required for all tasks performed.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, including inventory counts, audits, and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly, with occasional heavier items and assistance.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools, equipment, and materials.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment (certification may be required).
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to dust.
- Visual and auditory ability to perform job duties safely, including reading labels and hearing alarms.
- Occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching during loading/unloading or inventory activities.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Customer Service, Logistics, or Transportation.
- Understanding of logistics transactions, processes, and documentation.
- Customer‑centric orientation with professional email and phone communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and ability to learn company business systems.
- Ability to work in a flexible, ever‑changing environment with ongoing interruptions.
- Strong numerical and time management skills with attention to detail.
