HVAC Technician - 1st Shift

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a HVAC Technician - 1st Shift to join our team in Beltsville, MD! The core hours are 7 am - 3:30 pm. The hourly rate for this position is $33.50 per hour. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

• Study blueprints, design specifications, or manufacturers' recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of components.
• Develop and perform preventive or general maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power‑washing, refilling non‑toxic refrigerants, or changing filters.
• Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions.
• Support refreshing of office and manufacturing areas throughout the site based on availability and need. This refreshing includes potential drywall repairs, trim/molding replacement, caulking, fixture adjustments, and painting.
• Provide support and back up for other members of the department as needed by leadership.
• Assist with plumbing and electrical work and support other industrial maintenance technicians throughout the site.
• Perform HVAC system cleaning, adjustment, and repair.

Required (Basic) Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Must have Maryland HVACR License (Journeyman).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with commercial or industrial HVAC systems, including split systems, heat pumps, and rooftop units.
• Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates within a 50‑mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active‑Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with commercial or industrial HVAC systems, including split systems, heat pumps, rooftop units, and boilers/chillers.

• Complies with all national and local safety and environmental standards, guidelines and policies.
• Ability to proactively work with other team members under limited supervision.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 12 hours with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to be comfortable working in any weather conditions and on rooftops.
• Ability to comprehend and follow technical standards and maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of operating lift trucks, material handling equipment, man lifts and hand tools.
• Flexibility in shiftwork may be required to perform work at times when the area is not occupied.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to climb ladders.
