Overview
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of advanced technical accounting work in support of various college auxiliary functions, categorical programs, grants, and/or district functions.
Position: 12‑month, full‑time (40 hour/week) located at Oxnard College.
LocationOxnard College, founded 1975, located two miles from the Pacific Ocean, accessible via Ventura Freeway (Highway 101) or Pacific Coast Highway.
Responsibilities- Prepare, maintain, and evaluate financial statements, records, and reports developed for auxiliary functions, grants, and/or categorical programs.
- Gather, review, and synthesize accounting and financial data; prepare routine and non‑routine reports; develop and revise technical and statistical charts, graphs, and flowcharts.
- Assist departments, deans, and program administrators in the development, preparation, maintenance, and review of budgets; monitor funds for income and expenditures; calculate, prepare, and revise budgetary data.
- Monitor contract and grant compliance; assist program directors with fiscal compliance issues; prepare required reports.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain internal controls to safeguard college resources and ensure proper accountability.
- Verify, reconcile, balance, and adjust complex accounts.
- Answer complex inquiries from administrators, staff, vendors, or students regarding records, budgets, accounts, and programs.
- Review, audit, and process payroll‑related documents; distribute checks as assigned.
- Process and review financial documents such as requisitions, purchase orders, receipts, and inventory records.
- Prepare and process journal vouchers; ensure proper account codes are assigned.
- Collect, record, and deposit monies; reconcile cash and statements; resolve discrepancies; may serve as custodian of petty cash.
- Receive and record non‑sufficient fund checks; contact individuals for payment; send collection letters; place student accounts on hold when necessary.
- Perform accounts receivable functions; reconcile monthly accounts receivable reports.
- Provide work direction and guidance to lower‑level staff.
- Maintain various files.
- Operate a cash register and balance cash drawers; prepare deposits for college transactions.
- Work collaboratively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders from diverse communities.
- Demonstrate cultural humility, sensitivity, and equity‑mindedness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent with five years of GAAP experience, including organizing and processing transactions, reviewing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing budget and expense reports, and maintaining integrated computerized database.
- High school graduate or equivalent with at least 12 semester units in accounting and four years of GAAP experience.
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field with at least 12 semester units in accounting and three years of GAAP experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field with at least 24 semester units in accounting and two years of GAAP experience.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field with at least 24 semester units in accounting and one year of GAAP experience.
- Written/Multiple Choice Test – qualifying (pass/fail).
- Technical Interview – 100% weighting on final score.
Date Range: Thursday, February 26, 2026 to Monday, March 2, 2026. All qualifying candidates will receive an email link to the test on February 26, 2026, with a completion.
Technical Interview: Thursday, March 11, 2026 to Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The interview will be conducted remotely via Zoom.
