Summary

kidSTREAM, an emerging Children’s Museum, is seeking a creative and collaborative Education Supervisor to lead the development and facilitation of engaging, play‑based educational programs. The Education Supervisor designs, implements, and facilitates high‑quality learning experiences for children and families, ensuring programs are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with kidSTREAM’s mission of learning through play. Working collaboratively across departments, this role oversees educational content creation, supports program delivery, and provides leadership to a team of part‑time Museum Educators and volunteers to ensure consistent, joyful, and effective learning experiences.

The ideal candidate is an experienced informal educator with strong curriculum development skills, facilitation experience, and a passion for making learning accessible to all children.

Key Responsibilities Educational Content & Program Development (40%)
  • Design, develop, and refine play‑based educational programs aligned with kidSTREAM’s learning goals
  • Create and maintain standard templates and procedures for developing program content, i.e., learning objectives, activity guides, and facilitator training materials
  • Ensure educational content is developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and reflective of best practices in informal and experiential learning
  • Manage program‑related administrative tasks, including developing program budgets, identifying and securing supplies, and scheduling Museum Educators
  • Partner with the Events & Volunteer Coordinator to ensure educational content for programs is properly resourced and supported by trained volunteers as needed
  • Collaborate with the Exhibits & Facilities team to ensure educational programs align with exhibit content, functionality, and learning goals
Program Facilitation & Supervision (40%)
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of part‑time Museum Educators to ensure high‑quality program delivery
  • Facilitate educational programs, workshops, and on‑floor learning experiences for children and families
  • Model best practices in guest engagement, classroom management, and inquiry‑based facilitation to ensure a safe, welcoming and engaging learning experience for all
Data & Evaluation (20%)
  • Work with the Community Engagement Manager to develop and track metrics for program effectiveness and learning outcomes
  • Contribute to monthly reports on program educational outcomes and progress toward established goals
  • Use data and observation to refine program design, curriculum, and facilitation strategies
Requirements Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and facilitating educational programs for children and families in informal learning environments such as museums, schools, camps, or community‑based organizations
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with diverse audiences
  • Experience managing educators, volunteers, or other guest‑facing teams, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check required
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of play‑based, inquiry‑driven, and experiential learning approaches
  • Familiarity with evaluation tools and learning assessment in informal settings
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) applicants are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with program setup and takedown
