Instructor in Agricultural Production or Agriculture; Part-Time Pool

We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis for future consideration for part‑time instructors in the Agriculture disciplines at Ventura College. While there is no current vacancy, applications submitted to this pool will be kept on file for the current academic year (Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and/or Spring 2027) and may be considered if a vacancy opens. If you have applied to previous pools, you must reapply to remain eligible.

The selected candidate will be hired into either the Agricultural Production discipline or the Agriculture discipline, depending on qualifications.

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher‑order thinking through appropriate assignments and activities in one‑on‑one, classroom, and distance‑mediated settings.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions, and resources; refer students to support services and professionals as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance to meet course objectives and learning outcomes; provide timely feedback to student inquiries in class, online, or during office hours.
• Plan and organize instruction based on approved course outlines and learning outcomes to maximize student learning in alignment with department, college, and district goals.
• Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, student progress, curriculum, and outcomes; prepare and submit timely reports.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials (textbooks, manuals, software, tools) in collaboration with faculty; order materials according to bookstore procedure.
• Revise and update course content and materials to reflect new theory, practice, and industry developments.
• Update syllabi and collaborate with faculty to revise measurable student performance indicators.
• May participate in curriculum and program development and provide input on student learning outcomes.
• May attend and serve on committees and meetings at the department, campus, and district levels.
• May participate in articulation and matriculation activities.
• May provide work direction to others.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

E = Essential duties

For hire into the Agricultural Production discipline:

• Any bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience, or
• Any associate degree and six years of professional experience, or
• Equivalent experience, or possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.
• Professional experience required for candidates with a master’s degree.
• Experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.

For hire into the Agriculture discipline:

• Master’s degree in agriculture, agricultural science, education with a specialization in agriculture, or an equivalent field, or possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.

Part‑time faculty with classroom assignments are paid between $2,007 and $3,108 per semester per 10% load. Salaries are governed by the collective bargaining agreement with the Ventura County Federation of College Teachers, AFT Local 1828.
