Job Summary
Part‑time Instructor (Non‑Contract/Temporary) for the chemistry discipline at Moorpark, Oxnard, or Ventura Colleges. Recruitment is ongoing, with applications kept on file for the current academic year (Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and/or Spring 2027) and considered for future openings.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds, facilitating attainment of academic or vocational objectives.
- Advise and instruct students regarding academic programs, other institutions, resources, and study skills.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide timely feedback.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes to maximize learning.
- Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, student progress, curriculum, and learning outcomes; submit related reports.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials (textbooks, manuals, software) in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials per bookstore procedure.
- Revise and update course content and instructional materials to reflect new theory and industry developments.
- Update syllabi; collaborate with faculty to assess and revise measurable performance indicators.
- May participate in curriculum and program development and provide input into student learning outcomes.
- May attend and participate on committees and in department, division, campus, and district meetings.
- May participate in articulation and matriculation activities.
- May provide work direction to others and perform related duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in chemistry; or a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry AND a Master’s degree in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry.
- OR an equivalent qualification as determined by the district.
- OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.
- All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.

Salary and BenefitsPart‑time faculty with classroom assignments are paid between $2,408 and $3,108 per semester per 10% load. Salary placement is based on educational achievement and relevant experience. Further advancement is based on longevity and educational growth. Salary is governed by the collective bargaining agreement between the Ventura County Federation of College Teachers, AFT, Local 1828, AFL‑CIO, and the Ventura County Community College District.
