Instructor in Speech Language Pathology Assistant (Part-Time Pool)
This applicant pool will be used to fill part‑time Speech Language Pathology Assistant Instructor vacancies at Ventura College for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters. If you have applied for previous pools in this discipline, you must apply to this pool to continue to be considered.
What You’ll Do- Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses and assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher‑order thinking skills.
- Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide timely feedback to student inquiries.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes to maximize student learning in alignment with department, college, and district goals.
- Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials according to campus bookstore procedure to ensure timely delivery.
- Revise and update course content and materials of instruction in accordance with new theory, application, and industry developments within the discipline.
- Update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators for each course.
- May participate in curriculum and program development; may provide input into the development of student learning outcomes.
- May attend and participate in committees and in department, division, campus, and district meetings.
- May participate in articulation and matriculation related activities.
- May provide work direction to others.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Ventura College is located in Ventura, CA. Established in 1925, it has an enrollment of 14,500 students and a 112‑acre campus near the Channel Islands.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in speech pathology, speech‑language pathology, speech‑language and hearing sciences, communicative disorders, or communication sciences and disorders, or education with a concentration in speech pathology, or the equivalent;
- Possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.
- Eligible for California State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Experience facilitating large groups of adult learners or teaching at the college level.
- Experience with learning management systems (Google Classroom, Canvas, Blackboard, D2L).
- Experience with AAC.
- Eligible to supervise clinical students on site based on state board requirements.
Part‑time faculty with classroom assignments are paid between $2,007 and $3,108 per semester per 10% load.
