RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Lead Work & Supervision:
Provides leadership for the day-to-day operations of the Latinx Cultural Center and supports the development of a welcoming, inclusive, and identity-affirming environment for students. Oversees and coordinates student staff, including hiring, training, supervision, and ongoing professional development. Facilitates student leadership development opportunities and fosters a strong sense of community among students utilizing the center.
Serves as a primary point of contact for Latinx student engagement and success initiatives, meeting regularly with individual students and student organizations to provide mentorship, guidance, and academic and wellbeing support. Assesses student needs and provides referrals and fosters partnerships with appropriate campus resources.
Participates as an active member of the Cultural Centers team, contributing to the coordination and implementation of shared initiatives, programs, and campus-wide events. Supports an integrated approach to cultural center operations that enhances collaboration and maximizes student impact.
Program Development, Oversight, & Assessment:Designs, implements and evaluates culturally responsive programs and services that promote student engagement, identity development, and academic success. Develops initiatives that support retention, belonging, and holistic student development, particularly for Latinx and historically underserved students.
Establishes measurable student learning and engagement outcomes and conducts ongoing program assessments to evaluate effectiveness and inform continuous improvement. Produces semester and annual reports that assess program impact on student engagement, retention, and cultural center effectiveness. Utilizes data-informed practices and institutional metrics to assess student engagement, evaluate program effectiveness, and inform continuous improvement aligned with student success outcomes and strategic goals.
Collaborates with campus partners to develop co-curricular programming that addresses issues of equity, identity, and social justice. Plans and executes programs that are responsive to student needs and aligned with institution priorities related to student success and HSI servingness. Leads programming initiatives out of the cultural center that highlight and promote HSI Week and Latinx Heritage Month.
Campus Partnerships and Outreach Support:Leads efforts to build and sustain partnerships with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and community organizations to support integrated and holistic student success. Develops opportunities for student-faculty engagement, mentorship, and collaboration across campus.
Serves as a campus resource on culturally responsive practice, equity, and Latinx student success. Represents the Latinx Cultural Center on university committees and participates in institutional initiatives that advance student success, inclusion, and belonging.
Collaborates with Cultural Center Coordinators to develop and implement integrated programming and shared initiatives that reflect the intersectional identities of CSUCI students. Supports a coordinated cultural center model that enhances cross-center collaboration, resource sharing, and institutional effectiveness.
Represents the Latinx Cultural Center and the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management on university committees, work groups, and institutional initiatives related to student success, equity, belonging, and campus climate. Participates in local, regional, and national professional organizations and conferences to remain current on emerging trends, research, and best practices related to Latinx student success, culturally responsive programming, and student engagement.
