Overview
LHH is seeking a Mechanical Solutions Engineer – Senior on behalf of a confidential defense contractor supporting Department of Defense programs at Naval Base Point Mugu near Camarillo, CA. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer with expertise in digital engineering, mechanical design, and system integration. Responsibilities- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering capabilities to mechanical systems
- Create mechanical designs and CAD models for payloads and assemblies
- Perform thermal and structural FEA analysis using tools such as ANSYS or COMSOL
- Select materials and design for environmental ruggedization
- Support payload integration on platforms, including mounts and harness routing
- Produce manufacturing documentation with GD&T and tolerances
- Support vibration, thermal, and environmental testing
- 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical design and analysis experience
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Solid Works, Creo)
- Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, COMSOL)
- Strong knowledge of thermal analysis, environmental qualification, materials, GD&T, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams
- Reverse engineering and solutioning
- Line Replacement Unit, Assembly, and system-level testing
- System Safety Engineering
- Participation in system-level engineering efforts, including requirements definition
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline
- MS preferred
- Substitution: 6 years of relevant experience may replace a bachelor’s degree; 4 years with an associate degree
- Must be able to work onsite and support secure laboratory access
Annual salary range: $120,000 – $200,000
