Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced PCB Designer with strong OrCAD and RF layout expertise to support advanced Defense and Department of Defense (DoD) electronic systems. This role involves designing high-reliability, RF-sensitive, and high-speed PCBs for mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate understands military standards, EMI/EMC constraints, and secure development environments and can work closely with hardware, RF, and systems engineering teams.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain schematics and PCB layouts using OrCAD Capture and PCB Editor (Allegro)
- Design complex multi-layer PCBs supporting RF, high-speed digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics
- Implement RF layout best practices including impedance control, grounding, shielding, isolation, and matching networks
- Collaborate with RF, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers throughout the product lifecycle
- Define stack-ups, controlled impedance traces, and material selections for high-frequency designs
- Ensure designs meet DFM/DFA/DFT requirements and are producible at approved defense manufacturers
- Create and release fabrication, assembly, and test documentation (Gerbers/ODB++, drill files, BOMs, drawings)
- Support prototype bring-up, debug, ECOs, and design updates
- Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and formal program milestones
- Ensure compliance with applicable DoD, MIL-STD, and IPC standards
- 5+ years of experience in PCB schematic capture and layout
- Advanced proficiency with OrCAD Capture and Allegro PCB Editor
- Hands-on experience with RF PCB layout (hundreds of MHz to multi-GHz designs)
- Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC mitigation
- Experience with controlled-impedance routing and high-speed interfaces
- Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-6012)
- Ability to work in secure, process-driven defense environments
- Experience supporting DoD or classified programs
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-883
, or similar standards - Experience with RF simulation or EM tools (Keysight ADS, HFSS, CST)
- Background in radar, EW, SATCOM, avionics, or secure communications
