Operations Manager
Responsibilities
- Project Design and Management
- Lead the design and engineering of new greenhouse and irrigation systems, ensuring they meet operational and environmental requirements.
- Oversee modeling and drafting using CAD software to produce detailed design plans and system layouts.
- Provide technical leadership in the development of proposal, timelines, and budgets.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess scope and specifications, ensuring designs meet client needs and regulatory requirements.
- Perform feasibility studies and provide engineering solutions to address project challenges.
- Installation and Equipment Management
- Oversee the installation and setup of greenhouse structures and irrigation systems.
- Supervise troubleshooting, repair, and upgrading of equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Manage commissioning of new equipment, ensuring proper installation, testing, and operational readiness.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all systems.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, providing guidance on project management and technical solutions.
- Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality control, and environmental standards in all engineering activities.
- Sustainability and Efficiency
- Advocate for sustainable design principles, focusing on water conservation, energy efficiency, and minimizing environmental impact.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies that improve efficiency and effectiveness of systems.
- Vendor and Client Relations
- Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and clients to ensure project success, including procurement of equipment and materials.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding project status, technical challenges, and deliverables.
This job will oversee the planning department, providing minimal supervision on Data Analytics functions.
Qualifications- Thorough understanding of plant production process and developing/documenting SOP.
- Ability to lead and provide technical direction to a diverse team across multiple locations.
- Ability to break down complex challenges into strategic priorities, analyzing pros/cons, cost/benefits, and risks/opportunities to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Navigate ambiguity and make sound decisions with imperfect information.
- Demonstrate knowledge of market and competition and connect external insights with internal benchmarks and results.
- Possess an entrepreneurial mindset with strong orientation towards profitability and cash flow management.
- Identify, articulate, and communicate ways to improve and promote operational efficiencies and product quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related discipline is required.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams; prior cannabis experience is a plus.
The role requires standing for prolonged periods, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift, push, pull or move up to 15-50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
Work Environment- This job operates in many environments including a clerical office setting, greenhouse, warehouse, manufacturing, and retail.
- Greenhouse/warehouse/manufacturing:
Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse and warehouse with high humidity and varying temperatures, with a fair amount of moisture present; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles. Noise level may be high.
May be required to travel between the office and farm sites on occasion.
