Senior VAVE Manufacturing Engineer

I’m supporting a growing medical device manufacturer that develops single-use systems used in the production of biologics, cell therapies, gene therapies, and vaccines.

They aren’t simply looking for another design engineer.

• Why does this component cost so much?
• Can we manufacture this more efficiently?
• Is there a better supplier?
• Can we simplify the design without sacrificing performance or quality?
• Should we build this ourselves or outsource it?
• How do we reduce cost while maintaining regulatory compliance?

You’ll partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, Quality, and suppliers to identify and execute projects that improve product cost, manufacturability, and supply chain resilience.

Projects may include:

• Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE)
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
• Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Design to Cost (DTC)
• Make vs. Buy evaluations
• Product redesign and cost reduction
• Manufacturing process improvements
• Verification and validation activities

You’ll own projects from concept through implementation, measuring real business impact while ensuring changes meet quality and regulatory requirements.

• 6+ years of engineering experience in medical device, plastics, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment
• Experience leading cost reduction or VAVE initiatives with measurable business results
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Experience with design verification, process validation, and engineering change control
• Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, and risk management
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and Bills of Materials
• Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership skills

Experience with injection molding, plastic components, supplier development, or capital equipment is highly valued.

This isn’t a maintenance engineering role.

It isn’t a production support role.

You’ll influence product design, manufacturing strategy, supplier selection, and long‑term product cost while working alongside multiple engineering disciplines. Your work will have a measurable impact on both manufacturing performance and the company’s bottom line.
