Job Description & How to Apply Below

Stonehouse Resources is conducting a search for a Director, ROIC Design Engineering on behalf of our client, a recognized developer of advanced infrared imaging systems, focal plane arrays, laser sensing technologies, and electro-optical products for defense and commercial applications.

This position provides technical leadership for the company's CMOS analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design organization, with responsibility for the architecture, design, development, and validation of next-generation Readout Integrated Circuits (ROICs) supporting advanced infrared focal plane arrays (FPAs), imaging systems, and sensor products. The successful candidate will play a key role in defining future sensor capabilities while mentoring a highly capable engineering team and collaborating closely with detector, systems, process, packaging, and test engineering organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of CMOS Readout Integrated Circuits (ROICs) for advanced infrared focal plane arrays (FPAs), imaging systems, and sensor products.
  • Translate detector, system, and customer performance requirements into robust analog and mixed-signal circuit architectures.
  • Perform transistor-level schematic design, simulation, layout review, post-layout verification, and design sign-off utilizing industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Develop low-noise analog and mixed-signal circuitry including pixel readout, bias generation, timing, signal conditioning, ADC interfaces, and related ROIC building blocks.
  • Collaborate closely with detector, focal plane, process, packaging, systems, and test engineering teams to ensure successful device integration and product performance.
  • Support silicon bring-up, characterization, laboratory validation, debug, and production transition of fabricated ROIC devices.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the ROIC design team, establish engineering best practices, participate in technical design reviews, and contribute to the long-term technology roadmap for future sensor development.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation supporting design reviews, customer programs, product development, and future design reuse.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in CMOS analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design, with significant experience in Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC) development.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience leading complex integrated circuit development efforts while mentoring high-performance engineering teams.
  • Strong experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, Calibre, and other industry-standard analog and mixed-signal EDA tools.
  • Thorough understanding of advanced CMOS technologies, low-noise analog design, mixed-signal architectures, signal chain optimization, parasitic extraction, layout verification, and statistical design methodologies.
  • Experience designing ROICs for infrared focal plane arrays (FPAs) and advanced imaging systems is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting infrared detector technologies including III-V materials (such as InSb, In Ga As , GaAs, InP, Superlattice, and related materials) and II-VI materials (including Hg Cd Te ) is highly desirable, with particular interest in candidates experienced with advanced III-V detector architectures.
  • Experience supporting advanced CMOS technology nodes (90 nm, 65 nm, and below) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and technical leadership skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering organizations.

Due to the nature of the work performed and applicable government security requirements, applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
