Senior Decision Support Analyst

Description

The Senior Decision Support Services (DSS) Analyst is responsible for providing strategic analytical support to multiple departments within the organization. Responsibilities are focused on providing leadership and expertise to the DSS team; performing data analysis and providing business intelligence, strategic recommendations, and modeling changes to support the growth of Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP).

• Lead team effort in data validation of GCHP reporting tools.
• Lead efforts in continuing improvement of DSS policies and processes.
• Provide expert knowledge of health care and industry trends to DSS team in development and provision of business intelligence.
• Function as internal consultant to DSS staff and organization leadership.
• Function as DSS point person and representative at select organizational and departmental meetings.
• Prepare data/reports and analysis to help business make decisions.
• Work as liaison across business units, implementing and monitoring changes.
• Analyze business processes to determine areas of improvement.
• Become super-user of current business tools, and provide training across GCHP as appropriate.
• Utilize strong project management skills to ensure successful prioritization and completion of projects.
• Become proficient in provider reimbursement rates and contractual requirements, offering best in class solutions when appropriate.
• Work with IT staff to understand data limitations, develop custom reports, and validate data used across organization.

• Expert knowledge of Health Plan operations, health care and industry trends
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a Healthcare environment;
  Health Plan experience is preferable, managed Medi-Cal experience a major plus
• Proven analytical skills to identify opportunities for financial and operational improvement through data analysis and interpretation.
• Knowledge of claims systems and payment methodologies; financial and clinical information systems.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with various BI tools, Analytics software and Data Warehousing environments
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with backend systems, databases, and working with large amounts of data
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency using SQL and SQL scripting as a tool for data analysis. Proficient in MS SQL Server, T‑SQL. SSRS knowledge a plus
• Expert in Excel (with data management, formulas, graphs)
• Experience with Milliman Medlnsight or other BI tools, preferred
• Bachelor's degree preferred; will consider demonstrated work experience in lieu of degree
• Skilled in teamwork dynamics, both as a member and a leader
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in both written and verbal, including the ability to produce clear and well organized documentation
