Eaton’s IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Machine Shop Lead - 2nd Shift. The core hours are 2:15pm to 10:45pm. The hourly rate for this position is $30.00 - $32.50 Plus $2.00 Shift Differential per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. WhatYou’ll Do
The Machine Shop Team Lead is responsible for leading day‑to‑day machine shop operations to ensure work is assigned properly, schedules are met, and quality and safety requirements are maintained. This role supports machinists through hands‑on leadership, troubleshooting machining and process issues, and training employees on equipment, methods, and expectations. The Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact between the machine shop floor and Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Planning.
As a working lead, this position routinely sets up, operates, and troubleshoots CNC and manual equipment, producing parts ranging from simple to complex aerospace components. Work may include prototype, new, or low‑volume jobs where processes are still being developed.
- Support and comply with Eaton Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures at all times.
- Oversee machining operations across Haas and Mazak lathes;
Mori Seiki and Haas mills, as well as deburring, Bruderer stamping, and tool room activities. - Assign daily work to machinists, ensuring jobs are run to the correct priority, schedule, and revision level.
- Verify machinists are using correct programs, tooling, fixtures, and documentation with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues related to dimensional non‑conformance, tooling wear, and machine performance.
- Support first‑article and in‑process inspections; work with Quality to resolve NCRs and implement corrective actions.
- Track and monitor production orders with focus on schedule adherence and machine utilization.
- Act as the liaison between the Machine Shop, Quality, Engineering, Inspection, and Planning.
- Lead daily shift and team meetings; communicate production status, issues, and priorities clearly.
- Train new machinists on machining processes, equipment operation, tooling, safety requirements, and standard work.
- Ensure accurate completion of work order transactions, labor reporting, and inventory movements in the manufacturing system.
- Set a positive example in safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork.
- Assume supervisor’s responsibilities as needed, including reporting production status and escalating issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned; may be asked to support other production areas as business needs require.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in machine setups and operation, including CNC and/or manual machining.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience leading, training, or mentoring machinists.

- No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Camarillo, CA (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
- This position requires access to export‑controlled information. - 5+ years of CNC programming experience
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, alloy steel, and other aerospace materials.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting prototypes, first articles, and low‑volume/high‑mix production environments.
