Chip Capacitor Inspector (also known as Fire Test Operator) is responsible for conducting a series of process inspections, including but not limited to destructive physical analysis, electrical testing, dimensional checks, pull testing, visual inspection, Sonoscan, and solder testing.
Hourly Rate (Non-Exempt)$18.50 - $19.50 (DOE)

- High school diploma or GED
- At least six (6) months of microscope experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Basic computer skills
- Basic math skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience
- Able to distinguish and read Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA)
- Electrical Inspection of capacitance and dissipation factor (Cap/dF), including proper set‑up and use of capacitance meter and insulation resistance (IR) meter.
- Mechanical Inspection of chip EB-End-Band (Micro-View), including proper set‑up and use of Fowler drop gauge and caliper.
- Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA), mounting and curing of capacitors including proper set‑up and use of grinding equipment.
- Use of high‑powered microscope to inspect cross section.
- Enter all inspection data in appropriate computer program and/or attach to the traveler.
This job operates in a manufacturing/production environment with common exposure to heat and fumes. Protective equipment such as gloves, eyewear, and masks are used occasionally. Standard office equipment such as computers and photocopiers are used occasionally.
Physical and Mental Demands- Use of microscope, 90% of shift
- Sitting 50% of shift, standing/walking 25% of shift
- Bending/twisting waist, twisting neck, power grasping using hands and pushing/pulling movements using one or both hands 50-75% of shift
- Bending neck, simple hand grasping using hands and lifting up to 15 lbs, 95% of shift
- Fine hand manipulation 25% of shift
Reaching above shoulder height and lifting up to 15 lbs, 25% of shift - Work in fast paced environment and demonstrate adaptability
- Understand and follow a set of clear verbal and/or written procedures without deviation
- Adhere to a provided work schedule to meet a set of qualitative production standards
- Interact with co‑workers to complete tasks
- Act with integrity and professionalism
- Perform assigned tasks
