Aircraft Assembly Technician
Responsibilities
- Assemble legacy aircraft components such as slats, canopies, ventral fins, cowlings, and structural assemblies in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Perform mechanical assembly using aerospace-grade hardware and fasteners, ensuring correct selection and installation for each application.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed work instructions to plan and execute assembly tasks accurately.
- Use hand tools and precision equipment, including torque drivers, rivet guns, drills, calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools, to complete assemblies to specification.
- Install rivets, fasteners, and hardware per engineering and quality requirements, including sheet metal and structural applications.
- Verify torque requirements using appropriate tools and document results in line with established quality procedures.
- Perform fit-up, alignment, and adjustment of aircraft components to achieve proper clearances, tolerances, and geometric dimensions.
- Inspect parts and assemblies for conformity to specifications and quality standards using visual inspection and precision measurement techniques.
- Maintain full traceability by accurately completing required production and inspection documentation for each component and assembly.
- Follow AS9100 and aerospace quality standards and procedures throughout all assembly and inspection activities.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve assembly issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety standards and shop practices.
- Support consistent application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) concepts when interpreting drawings and verifying parts.
- Operate or assist with manual machines, brake presses, and CNC operations as required for forming or preparing sheet metal components.
Job Type & Location
This is a contract to hire position based out of Camarillo, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
